Working Together to Make a Difference
A few Toyota Dealers have already stepped up to the plate to help resolve some of these challenges by opening their doors to a Buckle Up for Life partner in their community and leveraging resources to create positive outcomes for families at risk through collaboration.
One example of an impactful joint effort is the ongoing collaboration between Price LeBlanc Toyota and Buckle Up for Life partners from Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. At the time of their initial collaboration, our coordinators had already identified families to educate and children who needed car seats, but they didn’t have an indoor space to conduct their presentations, nor a safe, shaded space to conduct their car seat installations. Price LeBlanc Toyota General Manager, Johnny Armand, jumped at the chance to help by hosting an event. He provided a meeting room, and a space in their tempered service shop to shelter families from the high temperatures while they were installing their car seats.
This event was just the beginning of a great partnership between two community organizations working together to keep children safe.

How to Get Involved
- Offer space for classes:
- Classes range from 15 to 30 people in size
- AV equipment is necessary (projector, screen & speakers)
- If budget is available, you can provide refreshments for participants
- Keep in mind that children may tag along with their parents
- Offer space for conducting car seat checks:
- If available, a covered bay or service shop are ideal for conducting car seat checks during inclement weather days.
- If a covered space is not available, a coned area in the parking lot will also work well
- Volunteer
- Buckle Up for Life partners can utilize volunteers for the following tasks at car seat check events:
- Checking families in
- Directing traffic
- Overseeing children’s activities
- Setting up/breaking down
- Interpreting
- Buckle Up for Life partners can utilize volunteers for the following tasks at car seat check events:
- Sponsor a Gift of Safety site in your area
- Sponsorship can be provided to support car seats for families in need
